Meet Sonya

Sonya D. Malbrough, DNP, CRNA, MBA, is a certified nurse educator, author, entrepreneur, and healthcare leader whose life has been shaped as much by the unexpected detours as by her numerous accomplishments.
A first-generation college graduate from a small town in Southeast Texas, Sonya built a career in healthcare spanning more than 25 years. Her career began as a critical care nurse at UTMB, eventually becoming a nurse anesthetist, earning a doctorate and MBA, and creating opportunities to educate, lead, and innovate.
But the titles only tell part of the story.
Her memoir, Life Lessons: How I Made It, shares the journey behind them—the dreams, U-turns, heartbreak, resilience, faith, and hard-earned lessons that taught her that no chapter is wasted.
Today, Sonya is taking those lessons into her next chapter as an author, educator, speaker, and entrepreneur—believing that everything God placed inside of us has a purpose, and sometimes we simply have to believe it before we can see it.
